( Well, that's unexpected. The last time she saw Laurel, she was from Earth 2 and not exactly a fan of Caitlin, so forgive her if it takes her a second to wrap her head around this. )

Oh, uh...yeah, I mean you wouldn't have to try to be on my level if science isn't what you typically do. It's not a requirement on my part or anything.

You too. And while I appreciate not having to be on your level, I don't mind learning new things. Maybe you could fill me in on the TED Talk version?

I probably could, but "science" is a super broad term, so you'd have to narrow down your interest a little for me, first.

( Because, hey, Caitlin is always game for helping someone else learn something new. Even if she'll need to push herself past the initial weirdness of a Laurel from the past, first, to do it. )

Fair enough. Let's go with ... what are you working on now?

( That's actually tricky, because she doesn't know if she should be honest here.
It's not like Thea was super specific about when Laurel is actually from.

Either way, she's guessing that it's a bad idea to say that she's been working on finding a way, on the down low, to dampen her powers without having to wear those cuffs. Now that her necklace is gone, anyway. )

I haven't really been working on much lately, independently but...let's go with controlling the levels of metahuman abilities. It's...kind of hard to explain, especially since right now it's completely experimental. Or rather, it was when I was working on it. )

[Well, she can make that very easy for you, Caitlin.]

I don't think they have metahumans where I'm from.

No? Unfortunately, Central City is pretty well overrun. Some good, mostly bad.

I see. What kind of abilities do they have?

[naz]

It varies. We never know what we're going to go up against until we're already going up against it. Sometimes even then it takes a tick to really piece the puzzle together all the way.

I've seen people who can slow everything around them down. People who can stretch like Stretch Armstrong. People who can run at speeds unheard of for living things. People who can open portals to other Earths, control the weather, teleport; all kinds of things.

That sounds ... incredible. It must be such fascinating work.

[naz]

It's something, anyway. Fascinating, yes, but the fascination tends to take a backseat to what's usually imminent danger.

Fair enough. Have you managed to help a lot of people though?

[naz]

Technically, I'd say that I help two or three people, directly speaking; they help lots of people. If that makes any sense.

Directly or indirectly, it still makes a difference. That's the point, right?

Yeah, that's true. That's a good point.

Every little bit helps, I think, so you shouldn't downplay what you do do for them.
